The College of Business and Economics at WVU welcomed a new group of excellent exchange students and scholars from SBS in mid-July, 2015.
During the three-week study in WVU College of B&E, the visiting students participated into fifteen wonderful seminars and experienced a bunch of courses related to the study of English language and culture. The Associate Dean of WVU College of B&E, Dr. Joyce Heames, and Dr. Mark Gavin gave students well-received lectures with topics about “The Career Development and Planning” and “Leadership Development”, respectively. A lecture named “The Forecast of Global Economy” by Professor John Deskins, the Director of the WVU Bureau of Economic Research also impressed the students deeply. Professor Victor Chow brought with a content-rich and lively presentation on “Global Business and Finance”, broadening the horizons of students as well as teaching them with a body of professional knowledge. Besides giving a lecture about “Tourism and Hospitality Management”, Professor Frank DeMarco showed all the students around the WVU catering service facilities, such as Waterfront Hotel and Waterfront Restaurant, so as to combine management theories he talked about with field experiences.
Apart from lectures and language learning courses, WVU also provide the students with plenty of extra curriculum activities, including visiting local families to better understand the American society, customs and habits, and taking the outdoors Challenge Course to develop teamwork spirit. To let them more involved into the American cultures and history, these students made a visit to several memorial places, such as Morgantown History Museum, University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. Later, they toured Washington D.C. and visited the White House, the Capital, the Lincoln Memorial and the museum area.
All the students made great harvests through the three-week study and field trips at WVU. And, to congratulate the successful completion of their study here, the Associate Dean of the College of Business and Economics, Professor Mark Gavin, and the Director of Center for Chinese Business, Prof. Victor Chow issued certificates to these students during the visiting program commencement.
