Good Universities Online kick-off ceremony and signing ceremony for Moocs Share among Southwest universities in Shanghai were carried out at Shanghai Jiao Tong University on April 8th. Our deputy president Lou Wengao and deputy dean of teaching affairs department Xiong Pingan attended the event.

Chairman of China High Education Association Qu Zhenyuan, president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Zhang Jie and deputy director of Shanghai Education Commission Yin Jie gave congratulation speeches at the event. They regarded the Good University Online is a significant Moocs platform, bringing together famous universities, teachers and lectures cross-straits and covering Hongkong, Macaw and Taiwan. Its theory of opening China’s best universities to all the people will prompt the development and reform of China’s education. Leaders from Southwest Universities Association, representatives from Shanghai Jiao Tong University also attended the ceremony.

Mooc is a massive virtual classroom connecting lecturers and learners worldwide. It has three features: firstly, it has a massive scale. Secondly, it employs vivid teaching approaches. Thirdly, it enjoys a strong interactive teaching and learning. Mooc has triggered a deep reform in teaching approaches, changing from teacher focus and knowledge feeding to student-oriented ability training and personality focus.

Southwest Universities Association was founded in 1994. It provides students with public selective courses and 2nd major courses, which lays a good foundation for sharing the good resources among universities. Based on Moocs, it will extend good courses to Internet and help students get access to all these resources without going out of the university. It will also play an important role in enhancing the education quality in Shanghai.
