On October 11, opening ceremony was held for “2019 Seminar on Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Developing Countries” and “2019 Seminar on Urban Planning and Construction in Portuguese-speaking Countries” sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C. and organized by Training Base of International Commerce Officers (Shanghai) of Commercial Department, SBS, in Room 1409, Teaching Building at Xuhui Campus. Liu Beimin, Deputy Director from Department of Foreign Economic Cooperation of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and Chen Wei, Associate Dean of School of Continuing Education, were present at the opening ceremony for these two sessions of seminars.

“2019 Seminar on Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Developing Countries” lasts for 21 days, and a total of 45 government officials from 18 countries including Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan, Bosna and Hercegovina, Cambodia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Romania, Surinam, Turkey, Zambia and ASEAN and other organizations have participated in the seminar. Experts and scholars from Innovative Service Division of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, Division of Foreign Economy of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and Enterprise Division of Shanghai Municipal Finance Bureau as well as Shanghai Qiantan Emerging Industry Research Center and other units will be invited to the seminar, and they will share their practical experiences and research achievement with the students on the issues such as China’s policies for science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship, summary of scientific and technological finance and government investment guidance fund, park development and creation of innovation and entrepreneurship system and technology and finance pattern in the era of artificial intelligence etc. On-the-spot teaching will be arranged for the students at units such as 36 Kr, DeepBlue Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. And Xiao-i etc. so that the students can closely observe the practices of scientific and technological innovation, entrepreneurship and development in Shanghai. Before the seminar ends, the students will go to Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province and Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province for investigation to further understand the development of Chinese enterprises specializing in scientific and technological innovation.

“2019 Seminar on Urban Planning and Construction in Portuguese-speaking Countries” lasts for 21 days, and a total of 26 government officials from 4 countries, that is, Brazil, Cape Verde, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe, respectively, participated in the seminar. Experts and scholars from units such as Shanghai Water Authority, Shanghai Landscaping & City Appearance Administrative Bureau, Shanghai Transportation Research Center, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design institute (Group) Co., Ltd. etc. will be invited to the seminar, and share their practical experience and research achievement with the students on the theme of planning and management of water resources, municipal waste disposal and environmental sanitation planning and management in Shanghai, integrated planning of traffic system, systematic planning and design method of urban road and other special subjects. On-the-spot investigations will be arranged for the students at Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center and Shanghai He'an Commercial Development Co., Ltd. Etc.so that the students can have better understanding of Shanghai practices in urban planning and construction. Before the seminar ends, the students will go to Changsha City, Hunan Province and Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province for investigation to further understand the development of Chinese enterprises specializing in urban planning.

Currently, these seminars are proceeding in an orderly style.
