RMIT Australia Visits SBS

Recently, a delegation of Australian Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University) visits SBS and has an exchange conference with SBS about the cooperation of the Education of Elder Care Service. Based on the main purpose of “Co-education of Australia with China, and sharing the excellent resources”, this meeting is about to set up the educational orientation of special Elder Care Service, to brew up the cooperative international curriculum, to offer the new ideas of expanding and reforming the specialty of Tourism and Hotel Management. The delegation is composed of David, Deputy Director of RMIT Education Department, Anthony, Director of Industry Cooperative Department, and others.

RMIT is one of the oldest leading universities in Australia, which is well known for providing outstanding personnel for many famous global enterprises and its NO.1 graduate employment rate in Australia.

To present the achievements of establishing the intelligent campus and show the campus culture well, Professor Hu Qiaoduo, Director of the Experiment & Training Center, gives the delegation a guided tour of Virtual Business Application Lab, Apple’s Training Base, Barista Training Room, and Tea Art Room.

After the short visit, the visiting experts have an exchange conference with SBS about the cooperation of the Education of Elder Care Service. Professor Yan Yuping, Deputy Secretary of General Party Branch and Deputy Dean, Professor Zhang Yifei, Deputy Dean, Deputy Professor Sun Xuefei, Director of Tourism Management, Deputy Professor Zhao Lili, Director of Hotel Management, and Bing Zhenhua, Teacher of Hotel Management, attend this meeting as the representatives of Faculty of Hotel Management. In the beginning, Bing Zhenhua and Sun Xuefei introduce the general situation of the specialties of Hotel Management and Tourism Management, and forecast the orientation and requirement of further development. Then, David and Anthony, the representatives of RMIT, give a brief introduction about RMIT. They emphasize that RMIT is a university which covers a good many courses of Tourism and Hotel Management out of more than 800 curriculums, especially focuses on industry connection and students placement. RMIT is putting priority on the development of Elder Care and expecting to have cooperation with SBS on it.

During the meeting, Professor Zhang Yifei describes the business prospect of Elder Care Service, raises the potential issues of how to combine the Tourism and Hotel Management with Elder Care Service, and suggests the cooperation should be conducted in the perspectives of curriculums building, teachers training, and students exchanging for the both sides. Professor Yan Yuping also addresses to the delegation that SBS is an applied undergraduate college which focuses on fostering and developing students’ professional qualities. SBS’s school-running orientation is consistent with RMIT’s approaches. It lays a solid foundation to further cooperation and development.

In the end, David contributes his thoughts and suggestions about curriculum integration and teachers training. He mentions RMIT could offer diversified curriculums and could provide teachers training according to SBS’s intention, which fully expresses RMIT’s willingness to cooperate with SBS.

This exchange conference consolidates the cooperative connection between SBS and foreign universities. Meanwhile, it’s an important step for SBS to accomplish the globalization process and to cultivate international talents as well.
