2022-03-25

On the afternoon of March 23, in order to ensure the orderly work  during the quasi-closed management period of the campus, 2022 spring  semester online teaching seminar for international students was  successfully held via Tencent conference platform. Vice President He  Ying, deans in charge of international student work in each second-level  college and relevant personnel from International Education  College attended the meeting, which was presided over by Chen Wei,  Executive vice dean of International Education College. Vice Dean Dai  Ying informed the participants about the general situation, the problems  of online teaching and tips for the next stage of international student  work.

Vice Dean Dai Ying pointed out that with the efforts and cooperation of  all parties, the online teaching of international students was smooth  and orderly with good results, but through the supervision and  inspection, it was found that there were still some shortcomings caused  by various subjective and objective reasons, involving teaching  discipline, lecture preparation, teaching methods, course information,  platform use and network environment. She emphasized that under the  current situation, the management of international students, especially  the 36 students in China, should be strengthened by various means, and  it is necessary to pay attention to the thoughts and psychological  dynamics of students, report abnormalities as soon as possible, and  ensure that epidemic prevention and control, online teaching, student  registration management and graduate work should all be implemented.

The deans in charge of teaching in the second-level colleges expressed  their opinions and reached a consensus on the management of  international students, the revision of talent training programs,  curriculum construction and the qualification examination of graduates,  and expressed that they would cooperate with the International Education  College in all aspects of international students work.

Finally, Vice President He Ying summarized the meeting and put forward  four requirements for future work: Firstly, focus on teaching. The role  of teaching in talent training is crucial and it is necessary to ensure  that the quality standards of online teaching are not lowered. Secondly,  care for students. It is necessary to set up a 24-hour working hotline  to provide psychological counselling for international students, class  teachers and counselors should take up the heavy responsibility.  Thirdly, strengthen management. It is necessary to pay attention to the  construction of the international student work team, clarify their  responsibilities, focus on process management, further deepen and  solidify the secondary management, and also adhere to the ideological  position and control public opinion. Fourthly, improve the quality. It  is necessary to work hard to strengthen curriculum construction and  professional development, and create opportunities for teachers to have  more opportunities to apply for municipal gold courses.

The seminar not only clarified the problems and causes in the teaching  management of international students, but also pointed out the direction  of development and efforts for the future, which provided a strong  guarantee for the effective implementation and solid promotion of the  international students work of our university.
