2019 Seminar on Urban Planning and Construction in Portuguese-speaking Countries is Completed in Our School

On the afternoon of  October 31, the closing ceremony for “2019 Seminar on Urban Planning and Construction in Portuguese-speaking Countries”, which was sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C. and organized by Training Base of International Commerce Officers (Shanghai) of our school, was held in Room 1401, teaching building, Xuhui Campus. Li Zhen, Deputy Director from Department of Foreign Economic Cooperation of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and Fu Jiandong, Associate Dean of School of Continuing Education, were present and he delivered speeches, and conferred course-completion certificates to the trainees.

There are 26 trainees taking part in “2019 Seminar on Urban Planning and Construction in Portuguese-speaking Countries” and they are from 4 countries, that is, Brazil, Cape Verde, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe, respectively, participated in the seminar. During the seminar, experts from Shanghai Water Authority, Shanghai Transportation Research Center, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design institute (Group) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Water Authority, Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute etc. have performed in-depth discussions and made exchanges on a number of subjects such as “planning and design of urban road”, “planning and management of water resources” and “municipal waste disposal and environmental sanitation planning and management in Shanghai” etc., and the trainees have visited The First Research Institute of Telecommunications Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai He'an Commercial Development Co., Ltd. and Meng-Qing Hall (Suzhou Creek Industrial Civilization Museum). Besides, all the trainees have been to Changsha City, Hu’nan Province and Shenzheng, Guangdong Province for investigation, and they have visited institutions such as Provincial Museum of Urban Planning in Hu’nan, and Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition, Shenzhen, Guangdong and so on. By visiting different cities in China, trainees gain deeper understanding of the fundamental realities of China and the research achievement and practical experience that China has made in the field of urban planning and construction.


Trainees highly appreciated the training opportunity, and highly praised the training result of the seminar. Mr. Danilo Neves dos Santos, representative of trainees from Sao Tome and Principe, said that he has learned a lot of new concepts and thinking methods through the 21 days of training course, so he hoped to make greater contribution to the development of his country when he went back home. On behalf of the all the trainees, he expressed his gratitude to the sponsor and the organizer, and he said: “Shanghai is a city where we have sense of belonging and a city that we consider as home in China.”
