Seminar on Management of Middle and Small-sized Enterprises in Portuguese-speaking Countries 2019 Opened in SBS

On the afternoon of November 29, the opening ceremony for Seminar on Management of Middle and Small-sized Enterprises in Portuguese-speaking Countries 2019, which was sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of the PRC and organized by Training Base of International Commerce Officers (Shanghai) of SBS, was held at Xuhui Campus. Liu Beimin, Deputy Director from Department of Foreign Economic Cooperation of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and Fu Jiandong, Associate Dean of School of Continuing Education, were present at the opening ceremony for the seminar.

Private economy comprising middle and small-sized enterprises is an important force that promotes the development of socialist market economy. In recent years, Chinese government made important deployment to support and promote the development of private enterprises by releasing a series of policy measures with pertinence and practicality in domains of finance and taxation, business environment, public service etc. to practically tackle the bottlenecks facing the development of medium-sized and small-sized enterprises. “Seminar on Management of Middle and Small-sized Enterprises in Portuguese-speaking Countries 2019” was designed to facilitate the exchange and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries on middle and small-sized enterprises, provide Portuguese-speaking countries with Chinese experience in construction and development of middle and small-sized enterprises, share the achievement that China has made in aspects of operation and running of middle and small-sized enterprises with them, and open a new window of opportunity to China and Portuguese-speaking countries so that they can complement each other's advantages and realize open development.


The current session lasted for 21 days, and government officials engaging in the management of middle and small-sized enterprises in Portuguese-speaking countries totaling 23 ones attended the seminar. Experts and scholars specialized in relevant areas from Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Shanghai Academy of Social Science, Shanghai Qiantan Emerging Industry Research Center etc. would be invited to the seminar, and they would share their practical experience and research achievement in the domain of management of middle and small-sized enterprises on the theme of supportive policies released by Chinese government for the development of medium-sized and small-sized enterprises, scientific and technological finance and government investment funds, Shanghai’s exploration and practice in prompting middle and small-sized enterprises and so on. During the seminar, trainees would go to Shanghai Canature Environmental Products Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Electronic Port and other units for visit and learning, so that the trainees have opportunities to have close observation of management practices of middle and small-sized enterprises in Shanghai. Before the conclusion of seminar, the trainees would go to Fuzhou City and Quanzhou City in Fujian Province for investigation and further understanding of development status of medium and small-sized enterprises in China.


Mr. António Pedro Barbosa Cardoso, a trainee representative from Vergo Vocational and Technical School, said, in a speech, that “the development of an economy relies on thousands of international and domestic companies. Today, we are honored to be here visiting China, understanding its powerful economic base and observing the prosperous development of middle and small-sized enterprises in China, and this is a chance only once in my lifetime. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Shanghai Business School for the opportunity, and I believe that the seminar will be of great benefit to the development of medium and small-sized enterprises in Portuguese-speaking countries.”
