Delegation of John Chambers College of Business and Economics, West Virginia University, visited and held Competition of Business Case Analysis

In the afternoon of May 14, Competition of Business Case Analysis was held in Fengpu Campus, and teachers and students from John Chambers College of Business and Economics, West Virginia University, participated in the event. The competition was jointly hosted by School of Finance and School of Hotel Management. The competition was organized by dividing students of two institutes into different teams for group discussion and presentation, and the panel of judges comprising teachers of both schools scored performance of each team in the site.  

Distinguished guests

At the beginning of the competition, Wang Li, a teacher from West Virginia University, introduced the original purpose and rules of the contest, and he expressed expectations for the Case Competition and congratulated beforehand a good performance of contestants in the contest. Then, the students introduced themselves and went to the extra rooms of event in teams for group discussion. During the group discussion, everyone aired his own views in a warm atmosphere, and the students expressed their understanding of the cases and exchanged their own experiences and ideas. Group discussion not only tested students in aspect of professional knowledge, but also gave contestants opportunities to display their teamwork spirit, communication and expression skills. After students gave on-site presentation and the panel of judges commented their performance, Team three, which comprised Shen Xiufeng from School of Finance, Ma Yitong and Mao Wei from School of Management, and Kaitlyn Cline, Carter Newman, Viviane Steiner from West Virginia University won first prize in the competition. 

Prize presentation

The Case Competition was an important means that two institutes adopted to promote the cooperation in professional teaching and talent cultivation. The successfully held event not only promoted English oral expression ability of students, but also improved their team-work ability. Through the competition, every participant improved their professional ability, and Chinese and American students were able to feel the friendliness from other side, so the event helped further enhance communication and exchange between students and teachers of two institutes.
