On the morning of January 6, the 2022 International Education Work  Conference and the third stage of the Party History Learning and  Education “Doing Things for the Masses” organized by the College of  International Education was successfully held in Conference Room 703 of  Fengpu Campus. Executive Vice Dean Chen Wei hosted the event and Vice  Dean Dai Ying summarized the international education work in 2021 and  the work arrangements for the next stage. The directors from the  Academic Affairs Office, the Student Office, the Teaching Quality  Monitoring and Evaluation Center, the deans in charge of international  student affairs of related college, the academic secretaries and class  teachers, and the relevant staff of the International Education College  attended the event. In the end, Vice President He Ying put forward  specific requirements and expectations for the international education  work of our university.

Vice Dean Dai Ying pointed out in the report that the overall situation  is gratifying in 2021 and the total number of international students  has reached 235, which is the highest in history. Due to the epidemic,  the teaching method is mainly carried out online, and each  department actively implemented the teaching plan and successfully  completed the annual teaching tasks. Dai Ying summed up the achievements  in terms of the scale and quality of international students,  connotation construction, management and service guarantee system  construction.She also pointed out that there are difficulties such as  imperfect operating system, insufficient financial support, unbalanced  teacher-student ratio, incompletely equipped class teachers, and  unfinished software and hardware facilities. Then she put forward 11  specific requirements and guidance for participants on how to carry out  the teaching and management of international students for the next  stage.

In addition, according to the agenda, Chen Wei also introduced some  risk points of international education work and emphasized the need to  pay attention to personal safety, legal risks and political risks.

The participants agreed that the conference was very timely and  important. It not only clarified the achievements, but also mentioned  the deficiencies. At the same time, it pointed out the future work  direction. Every participant supplemented, clarified and had a  discussion on the relevant requirements and guidance from their  own responsibilities and positions. Many urgent problems were positively  responded and effectively solved by the heads of relevant functional  departments and Vice President He Ying.

Vice President He Ying emphasized in her speech that this  conference integrates five aspects: work summary, arrangement, research,  discussion and listening to opinions, and achieved the expected purpose  and effect. She suggested that in addition to the departments  participating today, the Personnel Office and Finance Office should also  be invited. She proposed that the enrollment and teaching of master  students could be carried out in this field, which would provide a new  platform for many English-taught teachers to display their talents and  make them feel extremely proud. In addition, she also pointed out three  deficiencies in the work: firstly, the management system must be further  straightened out in two ways; secondly, the management must be further  improved, especially in terms of standardization and specialization;  thirdly, the construction of connotation must be steadily advanced, and  the situation of few highlights of professional courses must be changed,  which means, while emphasizing feelings and making contributions, it is  necessary to actively guide professional teachers to discover the  opportunities in this field.
