In the morning of 8 October, Haemoon Oh, Dean, David Cardenas, Associate Dean and Kevin So, Assistant Professor of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management College from University of South Carolina and their party visited our school. He Ying, Vice-president, Jiang Hong, Dean of Hotel Management College, and Jiao Yue, Associate Dean of Management College held meeting with the guests in conference room 1501 at Xuhui Campus. The teachers from Academic Affairs Office,International Exchange Office and the colleges attended the reception meeting. Both parties discussed issues such as teachers and students exchange programs, teaching and research collaboration between two units and so on.

He Ying, Vice-president, extended welcome to the delegation on behalf of the school and introduced school-running characteristics and professional advantage of our school. Jiang Hong, Dean, introduced the situation of Hotel Management College from aspects of integration of production and education, international teachers and international internship and employment and so on. Jiang proposed that, University of South Carolina is well-experienced in aspects of providing student training programs, and she hoped that they should build a better platform for students to broaden their vision and add brilliance to the present splendor through the cooperation between both parties. Sun Xuefei, Director of Tourist Management Department pointed out that, Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management College has made brilliant research achievement in aspects of tourist destination marketing and theme park-based shopping mall planning etc., and she hoped that the two units should have closer cooperation on 2+2 training program. Jiao Yue, Associate Dean, introduced the situation of Hotel Management College by centering around faculty, professional characteristics, talent cultivation and scientific research, and she pointed out that, for the retail profession as national level demonstrative major, the emphasis should be put on diversified development, international development and strengthening of team building and cultivation of students’ practical ability.

Haemoon Oh, Dean, appreciated the warm reception of our school, and he said that, Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management College has made active explorations in student training, and the college established public relations department for the trade, through which the experts from enterprises and relevant industries would be regularly invited to give lectures and recruit students, and the department is designed to provide opportunities of internship and practices to the students. He hoped that the in-depth cooperation between two units would be initiated through the conference. President He said that, there were many points of convergence between two units in student training and professional development, and Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management College from University of South Carolina involved wider professional field and more faculty and students, and they played a leading role in academics and industry. It was suggested that programs such as students’ communications and exchanges, 3+1 program and students summer camp should be held for three majors, that is, Retail management, hotel management and tourism management.

Finally, both parties signed Momorandum of Understanding and took group photo.
