In the afternoon of May 7, Opening Ceremony for the Yearly Graduation Design Exhibition of School of Art and Design was held as scheduled to witness the bloom of the youth in the season of fragrance of flowers. The opening ceremony was presided over by Chu Yanjie, Associate Dean of School of Art and Design, and Chi Lihua, Deputy Director of Office of Academic Affairs of Shanghai Business School, Xia Huanlong, Deputy Director of Office of Industry-Academy Cooperation and Practice, Peng Cainian, Dean of School of Art and Design, Department Heads of School of Art and Design and hundreds of teachers and students attended the ceremony.

Nearly 200 excellent works by graduates from four subordinate departments of School of Art and Design were gathered in the 2019 Graduation Exhibition, including graduates majored in Visual Communication Design, Environment Design, Attires and Costumes Design and Garden and Landscape Design etc., which comprehensively displayed the talent cultivation and teaching results of our school. The works of graduation design are rich in content with diversified and distinct themes, which is a vivid reflection of the spirit of the times. Some of these works seem a little naive, but they are imbued with students’ passion for arts, and their vigorous artistic creativity and rich imagination. These works represent their attempts to explore new artistic forms, their personal understanding of design philosophy, their reflection and questioning of the cosmos spirit and their understanding of passion for life. These works are of great momentum, romance and flexibility, and they are bold and generous while delicate and exquisite. With passionate while persistent soul monologue, these outstanding students express their truest feelings and sang most fantastic melodies through one after another works in design language, and they interpret our feelings and understandings of good things by creating soul experiences which originate from life. At the same time, we can also find clues of their unusual but wonderful thinking, their repeated attempts to explore new ways of identifying and solving problems, their attentions to the details with daily life as the starting point, and their dramatic creativity performance, and all of these are so comforting and encouraging. The exhibition coincides with the 90^th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement, and it is also a manifestation of students of our school inheriting the new May Fourth Moment Spirit in the New Era, displaying their glorious youth, and their personal quality of being down-to-earth, active, innovative and pioneering spirit in the scientific exploration.

The graduation design exhibition is held in the theme of “Artistic Road of E-generation”, as we are in the internet era, and its extended meanings include Economy, Environment and Enjoyment, and E-time is featured by openness and freedom. Learning and creation at different departments of School of Art and Design is also conducted based on the computer aided design, and the students are going to step on a long journey on the Artistic Road of E+ times. “Trees blooms in spring and we will have fruits to harvest in autumn”. As a period, it is a manifestation of academic result, a response to the school's mission and gratefulness shown to the teachers. The exhibition venue is located in the Art Gallery 330, Building No.2 and the corridor on the 5^th floor of Building No.2, Fengpu Campus, and the exhibition will last until June 11.
