Further Implement Educational and Teaching Reform of and Promote the Quality of Ideological and Political Theory Course in our School

To thoroughly implement the spirit of the speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping in Symposium of Teachers Engaged in Ideological and Political Education, on the afternoon of March 26, Office of Academic Affairs specially invited Professor Zhang Lisheng, National Outstanding Teacher, Man of the Year in Educational Circles of Shanghai, Model Teacher of Shanghai and professor of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, to the conference for further facilitating educational and teaching reform of ideological and political theory course. Professor Zhang Lisheng delivered special lecture under the title of “Educational Design Philosophy and Method to Integrating Ideological and Political Work with Professional Curriculum”. Vice-president Chen Jianfeng, leaders from Publicity Department, Department of Student Affairs, Office of Academic Affairs and Deans of Secondary Schools as well as leaders responsible for ideological and political education listened carefully to the speech. The conference was chaired by Xiong Pingan, Head of Office of Academic Affairs.

  By referring to the important address made by General Secretary Xi Jinping in Symposium of Teachers Engaged in Ideological and Political Education, Professor Zhang Lisheng delivered speech from two aspects, that is, the concept and connotation of ideological and political theory course and the educational design philosophy and method adopted to integrate professional curriculum with ideological and political work. He analyzed the “five links” involved in the educational design of ideological and political theory course, the goal setting, the content selection and incorporation route, the implementation method and the standard for the integration of objectives of ideological and political education with professional curriculum, how to encourage students to actively participate and experience, and the evaluation methodology etc., and he also proposed feasible suggestions on how to integrate elements of ideological and political education with professional curriculum. Professor Zhang’s report was precise, humorous and thought-provoking, and he explained profound theories in simple language, and all the teachers present benefited a lot from his speech.

  By taking the professional curriculum of Law of Advertising as example, Ni Lin, Associate Professor from School of Eastmoney Media and Management, shared her experiences about five elements of moral education of ideological and political theory course from the perspectives of society, individuals, content, value and culture. Ni Lin shared her experiences about how to integrate elements of ideological and political education with professional curriculum, which had a resonance for the teachers responsible for the projects of ideological and political theory course in our school and was also highly praised by Professor Zhang Lisheng. Professor Zhang highly affirmed the achievement that our school had made in the educational and teaching reform of ideological and political theory course.

  At the end of conference, Vice-president Chen Jianfeng highlighted the great significance of speech delivered by General Secretary in Symposium of Teachers Engaged in Ideological and Political Education and he raised four requirements pertaining to the educational and teaching reform of ideological and political theory course in our school: first, closely combine the ideological and political theory course with the talent cultivation, as the purpose of education is to train talents and improve the comprehensive quality of students, and “talent cultivation” can never be ignored; second,closely combine ideological and political theory course with professional curriculum, take appropriate methods to let students learn by heart; third, closely combine ideological and political theory course with social reality of modern China to cultivate students’ sense of social responsibility; fourth, keep professional curriculum at the same pace and direction with the ideological and political courses through collaborative development to contribute useful talents to the society.
