In the afternoon of September 12, when Professor RAÚLHOPKINS of Business School, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, arrived at Shanghai for World Forum on China Studies, he was invited to deliver an academic lecture in Financial Research Institution at Xuhui Campus of SBS. All the members of Financial Research Institution and some of teachers from School of Finance, School of Information and Computer, School of Hotel Management and audit office attended the activity.
On the theme of “Learning from Each Other: The Future of Economic Cooperation between Asia and Latin America”, professor HOPKINS discussed with the present scholars on the possibilities of cooperation between two emerging economies, that is, Latin America and Asia, in the field of international trade and investment. He set forth his views briefly from three aspects. First, professor HOPKINS introduced the main characteristics of Latin American and Asian members of APEC(Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation); second, from the perspective of science and technology, education and aid-to-the-poor policy and other non-economic factors that can promote the cooperation between Latin America and Asia, through analysis, he believed that, all these factors can act as excellent supplement to the communication channel of trade and investment; finally, by referring to currently new international environment and situation, professor HOPKINS discussed and exchanged opinions on the opportunity and challenge facing the cooperation between Latin America and Asia, especially, the potential space for cooperation between business schools in Asia and Latin America.
At the end of the lecture, the teachers actively communicated with professor HOPKINS in a good atmosphere, and both parties hoped that there would be more opportunities of academic exchange in the future.
Profile of Lecturer: RAÚL HOPKINS, professor of CENTRUMPUCP Business School of Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. He specializes in trade agreement and international cooperation, macroeconomic policy, international financial and economic development, and evaluation of economic growth in Asia and Latin America and so on.
