Introduction to the Summer International Program

The Summer International Program is an exclusive summer program customized by Shanghai Business School for undergraduates and postgraduates from overseas partner institutions. 2023 Summer International Program will have 3 themes to choose from, all of which are derived from the key and distinctive majors of Shanghai Business School.

l Each theme above is based on China and provides students with an in-depth understanding of subject-related knowledge and connotations from a Chinese perspective.

l Each theme above is supplemented with core courses, such as “Chinese Basics” and “China Overview”.

Program’s Characteristics and Advantages

【Specialties】

1.  The specialty of business administration is a national-level first-class undergraduate specialty (2019) and a national-level characteristic specialty (2009). Besides receiving national and municipal teaching achievement awards, it was also the first specialty in China to pass ACBSP international certification in December, 2019. The specialty has set a leading and exemplary example for similar specialties nationwide, and it has also established multiple cooperative mechanisms with overseas prestigious colleges and universities, aiming to introduce and develop high-quality innovative and entrepreneurial course resources and improve the quality of student cultivation.

2. The specialty of finance is a Shanghai municipal-level first-class undergraduate specialty, and it has constructed the knowledge system of US CFA, ACMCS, and financial science and technology, and geared to international and industrial standards. The specialty has perfectly integrated Sino-US “2+2” dual-degree programs and CO-OP college-enterprise cooperation into the whole process of talent cultivation, and effectively constructed a curriculum system combining CFA courses and practice and training courses, with the purposing of cultivating investment decision analysis and wealth management abilities in students through a full utilization of on-campus practical training bases.In 2019, the specialty of hospitality management was selected as one of the first batch of national-level first-class undergraduate specialties under the Ministry of Education, and built an intensified training base in Shanghai for the Hospitality Reception Project of the WorldSkills Competition. It enjoys high popularity and fine reputation among similar specialties nationwide and works closely with well-known hospitality groups both at home and abroad. Besides a highly-educated full-time teaching staff, the specialty has hired prestigious scholars as distinguished professors from the EHL, the college of Hospitality Management of Cornell University, the college of Hospitality Management of Oklahoma State University, and many other world-renowned colleges of hospitality management.

【Interactive Teaching】

The program emphasizes interactive teaching approach, and adopts interactive communication and joint discussion between teachers and students in the classroom to produce a good learning effect. Specifically, the program uses situational, inductive, and exploratory interactions to enable students to develop a strong interest in learning and actively participate in classroom teaching.

【Quality Assurance】

SBS is committed to open education and has been working to enhance its international reputation and influence. By introducing high-quality resources in business education, the university has made significant progress in international cooperation. SBS has carried out cooperation and exchanges with more than 100 well-known overseas universities and research institutions. It initiated the establishment of the Belt and Road International Business Education Alliance and the International High-end Business Think Tank Alliance, and established an overseas education base in Central and Eastern Europe. The school first started to enroll international students in 2007, and so far it has enrolled international students from more than 70 countries and regions, including the US, Germany, Russia, Australia, the Netherlands, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and South Korea. The forms of international education are increasingly diversified and the teaching staff have rich experience in international education.

【Visits】 Enterprises and public institutions related to the theme will be arranged as practice bases of the program, and platforms for business communication will be established. Visits to famous attractions in Shanghai will be organized to learn about local customs of Shanghai.

【Cultural Exchanges】Chinese traditional culture experience courses will be scheduled to learn about traditional Chinese history and experience ancient China’s charm and culture. Visits to Chinese families will be arranged to experience daily life of Chinese families and learn about the life of Chinese people (subject to actual situation).

【Program Authority】Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion from College of International Education, Shanghai Business School.

Application Requirements

1. Current undergraduate or graduate students (business professionals with an undergraduate degree are also eligible to apply);

2. A certain level of English proficiency is required, with the ability to understand full English lectures and communicate in English;

3. Fifteen students will form a group for each program.

Application Process

1. Students shall fill out the attached application form and submit it along with a scanned copy of the first page of passport to the program coordinator at our overseas partner institution where they are studying for approval;

2. Upon receiving the group application materials sent to the designated email by the program coordinator at the overseas partner institution, Shanghai Business School will confirm the application within 3 working days via email;

3. Within 10 working days after receiving the Acceptance Letter, the overseas partner institution must transfer the course fee to the account designated by Shanghai Business School;

4. Overseas partner institutions will organize students to apply for corresponding Chinese visas;

Program Fees and Payment Information

1. Fees and Fee Coverage Items

Program fee per person is RMB 16,000. (15 people form a group, and if the number is less than 15, fees will be charged according to the total expense of 15 people. And if the number is over 15, fees will be charged according to per person standard. For every group of 15 students, related activities and accommodation fees for one accompanying teacher will be exempted)

Including lecture fee, course material fee, accommodation fee (standard room, including breakfast only), transportation fee for rental cars during visits (activities in free time are not included), insurance fee, activity and visit fees included in the program, and airport shuttle fees; Program fees do not include cost of international travel tickets, visa fees, or other personal expenses;
