Applying for Shanghai Government Scholarship

Excellent applicants have chance to win Shanghai Government Scholarship.

I. Funding Period

Four years for undergraduate program.

II. Categories

1. The Shanghai Government Scholarships (SGS) is classified into A and B types.

2. Coverage

Type A includes tuition, expenses for accommodation and living, and medical insurance;

Type B includes tuition and medical insurance.

3. Standard (RMB/person/year)

Notes:
Classification 1 includes philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, management; Classification 2 includes science, engineering and agriculture; Classification 3 includes medicine and art.

III. Eligibility & Application

1. Eligibility Requirements

(1) Citizenship

Students applying for the undergraduate programs must be non-Chinese citizens.

(2) Age and Education Background

Applicants should obtain a high school degree or above and be no more than 25 years old;

(3) Language Proficiency

Generally, applicants should achieve a Chinese level of HSK4 or above and meet the language requirement of the faculty they apply to join.

2. Application Requirements

Students can log onto the Study in Shanghai website, (http://study.shmec.gov.cn/), which provides information on universities, courses, application periods and procedures and apply for the scholarship online.

Students are also required to logo onto the university’s admission website http://www.sbs.edu.cn/en_01/ to get enrolled.

If you want to live on campus, please carefully indicate the room type on the application form SBS will arrange the room based on your application time and vacancy situation. Adjustment will be made if necessary.
(2) Copy of Passport

Copy of the valid passport page(s) with your passport-sized photo, name, date of birth, expiration date, passport number

Valid visa copy should be provided if you are in China already.

Note:

1) Documents in other languages must be notarized and translated in Chinese or English.

2) Applicants under 18 years old should provide a Guardian's Letter of Guarantee (enclosed).

IV. Annual Evaluation

SBS Evaluation Committee of SGS will make comprehensive evaluations of the SGS students’ academic performance, attitude, attendance and conduct every year. Students evaluated as qualified are entitled to get the scholarship in the following year; those who fail the evaluation will be suspended or deprived of the scholarship for the following year.
